You came crashing back into my life from the dead.
Everyone kept telling me to accept that you were gone and eventually I did. No more sunlit eyes, no more golden hair. My days were nothing more than scheduled tasks and a list of necessities I barely kept up with to stay functioning.
...I needed you.
I sat in a cold shack up north, a shell of the man I used to be, then I had a dream. I dreamed you needed me...wanted me and I started making the moves everyone had begged me to make to clear my name. Before I knew it, I was back in Central.
Still not the man I was, but closer...ever so closer.
Days rolled into weeks, into months. I did what I was told but I never, never gave up the hope they wanted me to forfeit. My soul would not...could not, be at peace or at rest without yours. We pledged eternity and goddammit that is what we meant. You said you wouldn’t leave me and I vowed the same.
So when you came crashing back into my life, all gunfire and flying machines I was not surprised. You always did know how to make an entrance.
...it was your exit I could not abide by.
You whispered those three words to me. Before telling me to close the gate and you walked away once more. You left with the weight of two worlds on your shoulders and my heart.
I know you are out there now.
All I have to do is wait.

You waited TWO YEARS to come home and you throw away the chance you were given?? Whyyyyy? *cries* [In case you can't tell, I'm still holding a grudge against the movie, specifically the ending. Almost 5 years now and going strong. :)]
I always thought that because Roy cared about (i.e. loved) Ed so much that he wouldn't close the Gate. Roy would never do anything that would in any way deny Ed the opportunity to come home and in my little fangirl heart, that's just what he does, come home! :)
