I had stopped at a bar and was about to pay my tab and head home when the sound of female giggling reached my ears.
“So what’s it like working with two of the trio?”
“Never a dull moment that’s for sure.”
Is that Maria and Riza?
“Oh come off it, Riza.”
Was that Rebecca Caitlin?
“I’m not sure what you ladies want out of me.”
“We want to know how you keep your composure so damn well,” a mystery voice said.
“I’m a solider that’s how,” Riza replied.
“So are we,” Rebecca replied, “but that didn’t help me when the three of them walked into that last ball the Führer held.”
“Not all of us are man crazy, Rebecca.”
“No, but I even caught the Ice Queen checking them out so I know you had to.”
“Yeah, and considering they were parading around damn near naked the other day you couldn’t have been immune to that.”
It seems our little sparring match caught some attention.
“Fine, you want to know what I think?”
“Yes we do since you never speak on it.”
“I think I wouldn’t mind having one drink too many and making that triangle a square.”
While they were laughing at Riza’s comment I had the bartender send her a bourbon on the rocks. As they tried to figure out where the drink came from I decided to make my presence known. I was greeted with a round of smiles and when I asked Riza if she was enjoying her drink she gave me a startled look.
“You sent this?”
“Yes I did. I thought I’d help you toward your goal.”
Four scarlet faces looked at me with wide eyes as I bid them a good night.
This was going to make Ed and Russell’s day.
