I know some of you are worried about the 1000 calorie diet I am on and I don't want to worry people so I'm going to show you what a day of eating 1000 calories can look like. I know it sounds like starvation but if you change the food you eat you actually have plenty of food just of a different type. See Below:
2 cups steamed Broccoli = 108
1 small baked potato = 134
1 cup sliced strawberries = 53
4 oz of chicken = 128
2 cups steamed Cauliflower = 56
18 Large grilled Shrimp = 98
1 Sausage patty = 77
2 cups steamed Carrots = 108
Small apple = 52
Activa Strawberry Yogurt = 120
Hot Chocolate = 70
All of that equals 1004 Calories
Whereas before I'd make a choice like Chicken flavored Ramen, which I love by the way, for a whopping 380 calories for a pack. But for around the same amount of calories (and much better nutrition) I can eat 2 cups steamed Broccoli, 2 cups steamed Carrots and 18 large grilled shrimp and only intake 314 calories.
This diet isn't saying you can never have an Oreo... just not an entire row out of the package... lol. Just keep in mind each Oreo cookie has 53 calories have one or two and be done. This is more about portion control, willpower and better decisions when it comes to food than anything else. High calorie tasty food is instant gratification that I have indulged in at the cost of my waistline. It's hard to admit but it's the truth. I never really took in a lot of food but what I did eat was bad.
A "calorie" is a unit of measure that represents energy stored or burned. The energy you take in as food, or burn through activity, is measured in calories. If you take in more calories of energy than you expend, your body stores the extra as fat for later use. If you burn more than you eat, your body finds the extra energy it needs by burning the fat it stored earlier. This is the core concept in calorie counting to burn fat.
( Lots more under the cut ^_^ )
