If she can't find anything wrong with it besides that, I would suggest that she get a full system wipe and reinstallation of her OS. That seems to fix every big problem I've ever had, though it's a dramatic move.

Worst case scenario is that the copy of Windows she has is bad, in which case, she'll have to either buy a new one (which no one does) or... take care of it, but that requires installation disks and crack keys and it's a big pain in the ass.

See if she still has her disk.

Ah, ok. Her harddrive is somehow corrupted. She might have gotten something really nasty in there (virus), or her comp might just be old. Either way, I'd try a clean wipe, re-installation, if she has her windows disk. Trying to reinstall it without wiping it won't work.

*Old as in seriously used. I see that it's only an 05, in which case, I'd guess that something got in there.

Edit again XD

Here's pretty much what I know about it, without me explaining it all. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm The info here seems pretty spot on, as far as when I compare it to what I've been taught.
