Okay so I was sucked into yet ANOTHER fandom (blaming pastry_wench for this one)

This show is awesome beyond words kind of awesome.
Watched all 25 episodes and I'm seriously considering buying the manga to get my fix!
I would tell you more about this bit of animated greatness but it's almost impossible to do so without giving key shit away.
But let me just say this series hits the ground running and doesn't quit!

Now with all that said I must add these two.

I watched the anime recently too and wow! You're not kidding about hitting the ground running! OH! The very last couple of seconds of the last episode?! Like whoa! Those last few seconds are what had me considering getting the manga too but last I heard it was expected to run for about 20 volumes/tankoubon and I don't have the space for that much manga. :/ Whenever I get off my lazy butt and do something about it, I'm gonna check for an online source to read it. It's gotta be posted somewhere...

Yes this series is SERIOUS it lacks for nothing that I can see. And yeah that last episode period rocked and I feel you on the last few seconds. I am chomping at the bit waiting for more.

Wow 20 volumes... damn that's a lot of managa but I may still do it babe... I may still do it. If you find an online source please do share!

I know nothing about mangahere or if the translations are any good but at least it's a start. :)

On a side note, how odd is it that I don't really ship anybody on AoT? What kind of yaoi fangirl am I where I can see the Levi x Eren connection or the Erwin x Levi connection but not react to either of them? *sigh* I'd better be careful or I'll have to surrender my yaoi fangirl membership card! XD

This series does lack for... any relief at all. It's relentless. Depressing, deep, vicious, grief. I don't know how much of it I can stand. But the kids love it.

I must agree on that dear Elfs. It does lack relief and things do look ominous for humankind but I like my anime dramas like that...

Tough and gritty.

Yeah, it's pretty non-stop, all 25 episodes of it. :/ Attack on Titan (or Shingeki no Kyojin if you prefer) comes out of the box swinging taking no prisoners. It's unlike anything I've seen in a long time. AoT is as different from the current lineup of cookie cutter fluff anime as Star Blazers (aka Uchuu Senkan Yamato), the anime that introduced me to anime btw, was back in its day. Star Blazers showed me that people could actually die in an animated series. I'd never seen anything even close to that before and it was a bit of a shock to my young eyes. I'd seen Wile E. Coyote get blown up many times but he never died. SB comes along and turns my world upside down. Now, many years later, AoT comes along and turns my whole perspective on anime on its ear. That's a pretty impressive feat for this old fangirl! :)

I don't know how far you are in the series but if you're struggling with AoT now, you may wanna cut and run. :/ Like I said, all 25 episodes are pretty much non-stop. I admit I was tempted to do just that myself a time or two but I held on till the end. It's hard to see it sometimes but underneath all the depressing grief and gore is a really good storyline.
