A/N: You could set this in the Verse of my On-Going Fic Underneath It All but it can easily be appreciated as a stand alone.

Their weekend started in Resembool.

The day was cloudless and clear as they made their way up a familiar hill. Fresh flowers were placed on the grave of a woman they would never forget. As they stood there talking to a head stone, reliving memories of a childhood cut short they laughed till they cried. In the presence of her memory they were no longer two grown men, they were her children, her precious little boys. She was the single most important person in their life and they would love her from afar until they were back together as a family.

They moved on to a house that was always their home away from home. Ed and Al brought with them some of best automail tools, guides and designs the world had to offer. They repaired anything that was creaking, leaking, chipping or rusting at the Rockbell residence. When they left, it was after fixing a dinner worthy of the holidays and putting a fresh coat of paint of the house and storage buildings.

Back in central they slept all night and started the next day by showing up at the Hughes household with two tickets to a midday play. It took a little convincing to get Gracia to go but once dolled up with Maes on her arm her smile was not one they would forget anytime soon. While they were gone the brother’s worked with Elysia to make lunch and some of the best macaroni art Central has ever seen. When the happy couple returned the boys left the family to enjoy their day together.

Tired but far from done they stopped at a local florist to get two dozen pink and two dozen yellow roses. Taking the roses home ,Ed and Al mixed them together and arranged them in two ornate vases they had picked out especially with the recipients in mind. Heading down to the base they gave one vase to Riza and the other to Maria. Sometimes words, no matter how genuine and honest, just weren’t enough.

They left there just before dinner time, hopped in a cab and headed for the last stop of the day. When they arrived at the local orphanage the two ladies that ran the place were excited to see them yet confused by the twin mischievous looks they were wearing. When the brothers told them to go freshen up that suspicion grew. They did as they were told because they both knew Ed and Al too well to argue. Once the ladies returned downstairs Ed and Al told them there was a cab waiting for them outside. They handed the ladies an envelope that had two movie tickets and more than enough cens for any dinner they’d like to have. With nothing more than instructions to have fun and to take their time they pushed the two ladies out the door. Hours later when the women returned the kids were in bed, the house was clean and all was right with the world.

That night, two exhausted brothers walked home with broad smiles on their faces.

Actions always spoke louder than words and they hoped every woman they had seen over the past few days could feel the heartfelt wish of Happy Mother’s Day coming from the depth of their soul.
