Russell, Ed and Roy are relaxing in front of the fireplace. The trio is passing the time by drinking sake and snacking as they exchange stories about the various events that lead them to where they are now. It has been a long, odd and downright bumpy road at times but it was worth every fumbling step. As Roy brings a story to a close, Russell peels out of his shirt before reaching for the bottle of sake.

“Hey Roy,” Ed says as his eyes track Russell’s movements. “Do you remember helping Kain move and the pool party that followed?”

Roy’s brows knit together for a moment before his eyes settle on a shirtless Russell. One look has memories flaring to life in Roy’s mind as a smile claims his face.

“I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. I don’t think you will either.”

“Hey, I was there for that,” Russell says as he fills up everyone’s drink. “What went on that was so memorable? What did I miss?”

“You,” Ed replies.

“Me?”

“Yes you,” Roy adds. “Misster walk around all but naked wearing barely-there bottoms.”

“At least I was wearing some,” Russell says as blue-grey eyes focus on Ed.

“Hey I borrowed a pair of shorts from Fuery before I hopped in the pool, so don’t give me that look.”

“He’s got you there Russell,” Roy agrees in Ed’s defense. “I think your downscaled bottoms had everyone a little flustered.”

“I don’t recall their being a fuss about it.”

“I’m sure you don’t,” Ed snickers as he flips a cracker into his mouth. “No one was going to let you know that. I think you gave Havoc a nosebleed, Maria stared unabashedly and ole Sparky over there just hid in the bathroom.”

“I wasn’t hiding,” Roy says before taking a deep unsteady breath.

“Uh oh, this must be good. You just made the, I’m failing to mention something noise.”

“I’m not hiding anything, Ed."

“Okay if you’re not, look me and Ed in the eye and tell us you aren’t,” Russell challenges.

Roy starts to give that a try when logic prevails and he decides to sigh in defeat instead. “Fine, you win, but I’m only spilling that if Russell gives us the real reason he left Riza’s birthday party at the Tavern early two years ago.&rdquo

Ed looks confused but Russell goes beat red, “I’m only doing that if Ed tells us how that conversation went with Al after he walked in on the three of us.”

Ed’s eyes went large right before he let out a tortured sounding groan. That situation was still haunting him. If he thought on it too long it made him a bit nauseous. The words Al and talking about sex shouldn’t be in the same book let alone the same sentence.

“Fine I’ll do it but if I can’t get it up for days due to the psychological trauma rehashing this causes me it’s you two that will suffer,” Ed says as he grabs another miniature wedge of cheese.

As they all nod in agreement Roy takes another unsteady breath before he starts speaking.

“Well first off in my own defense I’d like to say I was trying not to make a fool out of myself in front of half the people I know and nearly all of my subordinates.”

“Yeah, yeah Sparky get on with it,” Ed goads impatiently.

“I was still struggling with being attracted to Ed when you came into the picture and doubled my dilemma,” Roy admits, looking at Russell. “I could never decide what was worse, being around you two or being separated from you. Both options were torturous in their own way.”

“That’s actually really touching Roy.”

“Thank you Russell and I mean every word. By the time we were helping Fuery move I had decided since I couldn’t decide who to make a move on and I couldn’t have both of you, or so I thought, I’d just work on keeping my hands to myself and getting over my infatuation.”

“Well, we see how well that worked out for you.”

“As you would say Ed, bite me.”

“I will later and you’ll love every toe curling minute of it, now on with the story.”

“Anyway, by the time the two of you started parading around shirtless at Kain’s new place; I could no longer focus on moving furniture. I should have known I was in over my head. Just when I thought I had gotten a handle on things it was time to hop in Kain’s new pool.  Ed in trunks was a nice sight but you,” Roy says as he points an accusing finger at Russell, “You in that dark blue elastic scrap of cloth you called a swimsuit was just… I’m not sure I have words for it. Regardless, it had me reacting in ways I couldn’t exactly control or hide in swim trunks.”

“So like I said, you hid in the bathroom.”

“I was in the bathroom but it wasn’t to hide,” Roy replies as his eyes move to focus on the magazines on the coffee table.

Both blondes look confused before it dawns on them. Russell chuckles as Ed says, “You didn’t.”

“I did… twice.”

“Do you know what kind of convoluted mess Kain would have been if he had known you jacked off in his bathroom? He would have never cleaned the place again.”

“He’s not that bad,” Roy says as he tries to reclaim his suave after admitting such a thing aloud.

“Says you,” Russell grumbles. “Dude seriously took up giving me and Ed the die a slow death glare, as a hobby once our relationship became public knowledge. He didn’t really know me and he was previously fond of Ed as a friend but it took a while for him to not give us the, Go Die In A Fire look.”

Roy merely smirks at their commentary while shaking his head, “Ok Speedo man it’s your turn. Spill it. You tucked tail, turned and ran out of Riza’s party after chatting Ed up most of the night. All was good then poof, you were asking Ed to say goodbye on your behalf and giving some lame excuse about your stomach hurting.”

“I wasn’t lying, my stomach was hurting. It just wasn’t from eating the spicy salsa like I said.”

“So,” Roy asks impatiently, “out with it. You two were all over each other most of the night then suddenly you were gone.”

“I was gone because you of all people should know what being all over Ed causes. Me standing behind him to help him line up that pool shot was my undoing. No matter what I tried to think about the situation wouldn’t go away. If that wasn’t enough, Maes noticed my predicament and proceeded to offer his own very awkward brand of advice for my situation. Unfortunately for me, he thought it was that Sciezska chic that had me in my current State.  After enduring a long really awkward, it’s a natural response talk, he finally went off to speak to her on my behalf. Once he turned his back I told Ed to tell everyone I was sick and ran for it.”

“Chicken,” Roy teases, “Sciezska is a very sweet and intelligent young lady.”

“So says you,” Ed cut in. “The moment I was legal she was on me like white on rice.”

“Are you serious?” Roy asks a little stunned. Ed couldn’t be referring to Sciezska.

“You know how she likes to read.”

“Yeah everyone knows that about her.”

“Well you’d be surprised to know it’s not just military shit for Maes. She offered to show me just how much knowledge she had.”

Once the shock wears off Roy reroutes the conversation back to Riza’s party. It never ceased to amaze Roy just how many people were waiting for Ed to come of age, “Back to you Russell, you didn’t have to ditch the whole party.”

“Unlike some people,” Russell starts as he narrows his eyes at Roy, “I didn’t have the option of hiding in a private bathroom for the whole get together.”

“So what you’re saying is….”

“After slinking around trying to cover a hard on for an hour I got lectured and embarrassed by Maes, abandoned ship and went home."

Roy looks at the satisfied smirk on Ed’s face and says, “You may look like the cat that ate the canary now but you won’t be looking that way by the time you’re done telling us about Al.”

Ed’s smirk melts into a horrified look in a matter of seconds. He was sure recounting this was going to shave several years off his life.

“First we sat at the kitchen table in horrid uncomfortable silence. Once we could talk, Al got too damn comfortable and started asking questions.”

“Questions?” Russell muses. “That doesn’t seem so bad.”

“It wouldn’t have been if it hadn’t been questions like, “How do you find room for all the limbs and what’s it like?”

“What’s it like?” Roy asks a bit confused.

“As in what’s it like having sex with two other men in the middle of the living room floor.”

“Whoa!” Roy replies as his eyes go wide. “Sweet little Al asked you that?”

“Yes.”

“Come on Ed you expect us to believe Mister I love kittens and sunshine asked you that flat out?” Russell questions in disbelief.

Ed gives him a look, “Al is not the picture of innocence he portrays so well. In fact, the most brain stopping question he asked was about you.”

“Me?” Russell asks more curious than now than ever.

“Yeah it started with, is Russell always sandwiched between you and Roy like that, and ended with him saying that it didn’t look like a bad place to be if he read your expression correctly.”

“You lie!” Russell says as he fought down the heat rising in his face.

“I don’t, even though everything in me wishes I was. He even noticed the fact that you were oblivious to the fact we’d been walked in on, complimented me and Roy on our apparent sexual prowess and asked me to tell him what is was that we’d done… my brain imploded at that point and I walked away.”

Roy and Russell just look at Ed stunned, so much for sweet little, Al.

“I suppose it was good that you got away when you did.”

“Running didn’t save me for long, the little shit cornered me later that week and before you ask, that conversation will go with me to my grave. Damn near killed me on the spot as it was.”

“No wonder you never spoke about it.”

“Yeah, imagine that, me being serious when I said it was traumatic as fuck.”

“Alright, alright we apologize Ed, but look at it from our prospective. We’ve never seen this side of Al.”

“And I wish I never had. I try my damndest to pretend it doesn’t exist then you guys had to force me down memory lane… now I’m ruined all over again. I might need therapy.”

“Well at least it’s over,” Russell says as he leans back so his head is in Roy’s lap.

“It’s far from over. Have you forgotten I’m not the only one with a little brother?”

“What’s Fletcher got to do with this?”

“He may be away studying in Xing now, but he will be home soon and I know for a fact several letters were exchanged between him and Al in the following weeks. Your time on the chopping block is coming, Blondie. Mark my word.”

When Russell’s brows furrowed Roy chuckled. For the first time ever he felt fortunate to have no siblings. Sure he had Maes that was like a brother to him but an older one thankfully. It was not so brain crushing to talk to him about such things. However, it had been interesting enough telling his Aunt about their relationship. She just shook her head at him and laughed. Saying that all that time she spent grooming him to be the perfect ladies man had been in vain. He countered that by saying some tricks of the trade defied gender. He assured her that her time was well spent all the same.

Speaking of his Aunt….

“Are we busy with anything weekend after next?”

“Not that I know of,” Ed replies. “But something about your tone is making me wish otherwise.”

“I kinda sorta promised my Aunt we’d pay her a visit.”

“Ahhh,” Ed and Russ murmur in unison.

“So it’s time to meet the parents huh?”

Roy nods and Russell and Ed sigh… this visit was bound to be interesting to say the least.
