Summary: Ed, Russell and Al go on vacation... trouble ensues.

[Roy’s overheard side of the conversation in the office]

“Calm down Russell I can’t understand you. Now what happened to start all of this?”

“A man shoved you off a barstool? Why would a perfect stranger do that?”

Roy now has most of his staff’s attention.

“Yes, I suppose some people don’t take rejection well.”

“Oh…Ed broke the man’s nose and his hand?”

Even Riza and Farman look up from their work at that statement.

“I understand, but that’s violent even for Ed.”

“Oh I see now… how bad are you hurt?”

“I know you’re not concerned but it’s a concern of mine…”

The silence stretches on as everyone watches Roy’s face morph through a variety of expressions.

“Wow…ok… no, no I’m still here. How long have they been in jail?”

“Al did what?!”

“I know they’re brothers, believe me every time they get together I’m reminded of this very fact.”

“So where are they now?”

Dark eyes go from wide and concerned, to narrow and confused.

“Why are they on the roof?”

“Oh…I see. Well I’ll be there as soon as I can. Tell them to keep the clapping to a minimum.”

“I know, I know… don’t worry about it, it’ll be fine just… what was that crashing sound?”

“Russell?”

Everyone can hear quite the commotion coming from the receiver in Roy’s tightly clinched hand.

“They did what! Why?”

“That was a bad challenge to pose to either of them.”

“Seven men down already? Where are the local authorities?”

“Four of those men were the authorities?”

“I want you to try not to get involved anymore; one broken limb is quite enough. Yes, I’m on my way now.”

Roy hung up the phone, closed his eyes and rolled his shoulders. He’d had a feeling today was going to be one of those days when he got up and thus far the feeling has proved dead on the money. When he opened his eyes he realized the entire office was staring at him in stunned silence.

“They’re on vacation,” was all Roy offered his dumbfounded subordinates before he asked Havoc to bring a car around.

When Roy settled in the back seat of the roadster Havoc met his eyes via the rearview mirror, “Is it really worth all of this, Chief?”

“All of this and more,” Roy replied with a wistful smile on his face.

“How can you be smiling? It sounds like a mess.”

“I’m sure it is, but I was never one attracted to the mundane. If nothing else they keep my life interesting and me on my toes,” Roy’s smile slides into a smirk before he adds, “let’s not even go into the other perks, but I would have thought after the last time we had you over I wouldn’t have to list those for you.”

Havoc’s face flushes beet red. He remembers Roy’s birthday weekend all too well. He hopes that time is never cruel enough to erase that memory from his mind.

“With that said and the fact that I love them both dearly it makes anything they toss at me worth it.”

“I suppose it would.”

“That and the fact they know how to say sorry and thank you in ways that would make your toes curl.”

“I’m sure they do.”

“You might not believe this but what you’ve experienced is only the tip of the iceberg,” Roy said as he locked eyes with Jean via the mirror.

“Are you serious?”

“As a heart attack.”

Jean thought he liked the sound of this already.

“If we arrive and fix this situation I’m sure they will both be very… very, thankful. We would be treated like heroes.”

“We?”

“Yes, we, you are along for the ride aren’t you, Lieutenant?”

“Of course I am, Chief. I would never abandon my post.”

“Good, good. Do you have some time off unspoken for this quarter?”

“I sure do. Why do you ask?”

“Their idea of a proper thank will take a couple of days and probably require a recovery period.”

Jean should probably be afraid but the solider in him was more than willing to rise to the challenge and if it killed him, all he could think was, what a way to go.

You have to write the next bit where they save the day and Havoc gets a reward because Havoc needs more love <3333

*giggles* Havoc does need more love. Even though the last time they "loved" on him it nearly gave him a heart attack LOL

The is a publisher I am trying to write for that specializes in 50 word stories... it is not as uncommon as I thought. A bunch of places do the 100 word thing... I felt so happy to have had so much practice here on LJ.

Yup, it's Polgara. It's been ages since I've read them and I'm not entirely certain where the books are. (There is way too much stuff in this house.)

Jeez. I don't know whether to feel sorry for Roy or congratulate him. Will there be a sequel? Will begging and pleading help you to decide to write one?
