Summary: When work calls Ed and Roy away Russell has to deal with the solitude.
No firm cool pressure from an automail limb.
No soft prickle of stubble.
No sleep cranky voice rushing the coffee pot.
No perfectly poached eggs over buttered toast.
No one to hog the blanket and no one there to read old folklore by lamplight.
Only a bed that felt too big and halls that echoed too much and Russell hated it.
He knew they couldn’t spend every waking moment together but when they were both gone it was nearly unbearable.
As he looked at the clock yet again Russell realized sleep was going to be elusive for yet another night.
