Summary: Jean and Ed run into each other at a local bar after a trying day.
Jean Havoc was having the shit day of all shit days. He was presently sitting at a bar staring at a note scrawled out on a napkin.
This isn’t working out. It’s not you it’s me. I hope you understand. ~Jolene
Jean had been dumped in a variety of ways over the years but by napkin left with the bartender was a first. As he downed a good portion of beer number two, he couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for himself. He was a decent guy wasn’t he? Maybe he was wrong to assume that, his track record definitely seemed to indicate otherwise.
He’d just lit up a cigarette when a familiar voice said, “Mind if I bum one of those?”
He looked to his right and there sat Edward Elric. The young man had a scowl on his face, leaves in his hair and as he reached for the bowl of pretzels on the bar Havoc could see a nasty bruise on his arm.
Choosing to not question Ed’s request for a smoke he passed him one because he looked like he could use it, “You had a shit day to?”
“If you call getting shot at by thugs, before being drug though a field by a Chimera, followed by falling off a building into an alleyway ending with getting chewed out by Colonel Bastard for being late a shit day then yeah…I’ve had one.”
Damn, Jean thought as he looked at the napkin once again, this is what people mean by no matter how bad you have it someone has it worse. “Can I buy you a beer?”
“Make that Scotch on the rocks and you have a deal.”
Jean flagged the bartender over and ordered Ed’s drink. When the bartender gave Ed a funny look Ed tossed his pocket watch on the bar and no questions were asked. When the bartender sat it down in front of Ed he knocked it back without so much as a flinch and ordered another.
When the second one came he took a sip, lit up the cigarette he bummed and said, “So what has you drowning your sorrows in this place tonight?”
“What makes you think I’m drowning my sorrows?”
Ed arched an eyebrow at him, snorted and replied, “If your face got any longer your chin would be scraping the bar.”
Jean couldn’t help the bitter chuckle that he let out before passing Ed the napkin. Ed scanned the note and sighed, “Damn dude that blows. For what it’s worth I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok I’m used to it by now but this method has to be the most original yet.”
“Still that has to suck ass.”
“It does but I’ve come to the conclusion my love life is beyond salvation. You’re a dude you got any advice? Want to save a drowning man?”
“Hell no, I don’t have any advice,” Ed replied as he stubbed out his smoke, “I can’t even save myself. With my life who has the time to date?”
Havoc snorted as he thought on the fact that Ed had a point. He was gone weeks and sometimes months at a time. That is surely not a selling point when dating.
“Well how about this I'll save you if you save me. I’ll find you someone who won’t lose interest if you’re gone a lot and you find me someone that will hang around long enough for me to get laid.”
Ed laughed and said, “So all you want is a roll in the hay?”
“No but I’ll take it. After a year of not getting past second base or date five I think it would be stupid of me to hope for too much more more.”
Ed gave Jean a look then as he helped himself to another one of the man’s cigarettes, “We’re nothing more than two lame military dogs. Ya know that?”
Havoc nodded and lit up right along with Ed. It was a sad but true fact and he wasn’t in the mood to try to deny it.
“Well I know a place that won’t toss my ass out for looking like hell and they serve steak and eggs until 2am. You game?”
“Not like I got anything else to do. Sounds like a better fucking deal than staring a hole in that napkin all night.”
“C’mon then it’s my treat,” Ed said as he stood.
They left the bar side by side both feeling a little better than they did an hour ago.

Summary: Fate has it in for Jean...or does it?
Jean was sitting at his desk trying his best not to watch the clock. It was mere minutes until quitting time but Hawkeye hated it if they sat there and stared at the clock. It was Friday and Jean was looking forward to meeting up with Ed at their usual greasy spoon for dinner. Somehow running into each other at Pete’s bar five weeks ago had rolled over into a routine of them meeting at the diner for dinner every Friday evening.
Ed usually got there first since he didn’t have to stay at the office until five like Jean had to but that worked out fine as well. It meant Ed could grab their favorite booth.
When the clock struck five, Havoc was at the head of the line headed out the door… but fate had other plans.
“Lieutenant,” Roy called from his office, “might I have a word with you?”
Jean stopped in mid stride and as he turned around Breda whispered, sucks to be you, as he followed everyone else out of the office. Havoc glared at him on his way to answer Roy’s summons. Jean prayed whatever it was would be quick but that hope was dashed the moment Roy pulled a mission folder out of his desk drawer.
An hour and a half later Havoc finally walked into the diner and just as he figured Ed was nowhere to be seen. He asked Megan if he’d said anything.
“Sorry Sugah, he sat there for about an hour drinking coffee, ordered some stuff to go, paid his bill then left. He didn't say where he was going.”
Jean sighed, thanked the waitress and left. It was just his luck, that the one thing he had to look forward to, got shot all to hell. If it wasn’t for bad luck Jean Havoc would have none at all.
As he walked down the street with his head held low an idea hit him. Maybe his evening wasn’t completely shot to hell after all. They often went to Pete’s when they left the diner so maybe Ed was there. With this realization in mind Havoc quickened his pace and headed for the bar.
When he walked in he had high hopes but as he scanned the small tavern and didn’t see Ed his face fell.
“If you’re looking for Shorty you just missed him,” Pete said as he wiped off the counter.
“I’m not surprised. Today hasn’t been my day,” Jean replied as turned and left.
The walk to his apartment, was a somber one indeed as Havoc wrestled with the realization that it’ll be him, a sandwich and the radio tonight. Disappointed and morose he climbed the stairs to the second floor of his building. As he fished out his keys he heard noise on the other side of the door and his instincts went on high alert. Pushing the door open slowly his trepidation washed away the moment he sat eyes on his couch.
“It’s about damn time,” Ed announced causing Havoc to smile, “I’m starving.”
“I thought you ordered food at the diner?” Jean questioned as he stripped out of his uniform jacket.
“I did and it’s sitting in your kitchen.”
Jean looked over at the counter and sure enough there were two boxes from the diner sitting side by side.
“I hope you don’t mind I kinda let myself in.”
“Don’t mind at all,” Jean replied.

Summary: Ed's looking down for some reason and Jean doesn't like it one damn bit
Jean was use to a lot of things in Ed’s presence but the melancholy look that had dominated the man’s features all night wasn’t one of those things. They were doing their usual for a Friday night but Ed had been quiet and distant the entire time. By the time they left Pete’s bar Havoc couldn’t take it anymore.
“Are you gonna give me a smile at any point tonight?”
“Huh?”
“You’ve been looking like death warmed over all night. What gives?”
“Sorry just a lot on my mind. Didn’t mean to ruin the evening.”
“Want to talk about it?”
“Not even remotely,” Ed replied honestly as he shoved his hands in his pockets and focused on the sidewalk.
As they walked toward the point in which they would part ways for the night Ed’s demeanor wore on Jean in a way he couldn’t quite figure out. Sure he never liked to see anyone he knew upset, sad or out of sorts, but something about Ed tonight was killing him. He wanted brash, witty Ed back. He didn’t like this silent and gloomy impostor.
When they stopped at the wide intersection where they would part Ed was still in a funk and Jean was at the end of his rope. Ed was staring out into nothing with sad eyes and Jean wanted that look gone. He called Ed’s name and when Ed turned to face him, he kissed the shorter man on the lips and when golden eyes went wide and his jaw dropped Havoc said, “It wasn’t the smile I was hoping for but it’ll do. Sleep well Ed, I hope whatever it is gets better.”

Summary: Go read and find out...heh heh
Three months after that kiss at the intersection of Caldwell Avenue and 24th Street Havoc is looking down into the flushed sweat dampened face of Edward Elric as he tries his level best not to blow his load. There was something about watching Ed’s face contort in pleasure as broken syllables passed his lips that made Jean’s dick throb.
Ed’s right leg is thrown over his shoulder and with one hand on the mattress for leverage Jean wraps his other one around Ed’s cock and starts stroking.
“Ah…nuh don’t…it’s gonna… gonna make me…”
“That’s the plan babe,” Havoc panted out before he kissed Ed’s thigh. He didn’t want Ed to hold it back. He wanted to give old Mr. Vicars a reason to shoot him dirty looks for another week. That was one of Jean’s favorite things about pleasing the man below him. If he did it right the whole damn building knew it.
The first time Havoc learned that if he teased Ed long enough with foreplay then, got him in the right position, that the other man would cum like a rocket, Vicars had complained to the landlady about the noise. When she found out what the “noise” was she’d flushed furiously and told Vicars to invest in some earplugs.
But back to the situation at hand…
Ed’s automail hand clutched at the sheets as the nails of his left hand dug into Jean’s shoulder and when his back arched off the bed Jean knew his lover had crossed the line. Wailing Jean’s name like a banshee Ed came hard and when his body tightened around Jean’s cock it sent him right over the edge with him. The world went away in a flash of white and when it finally returned it was blissfully out of focus.

Summary: The years have been kind to lovers
Years passed and on an early spring day Jean found himself watching his beloved Edward in the park. The wind was blowing cherry blossoms all around the alchemist as it sent a long golden braid fluttering out behind him. He couldn’t help but marvel at his lover. As Ed stood there perfectly still in the middle of the park he looked like a statue of perfection.
Jean didn’t have many hopes and dreams, but of the few he had Ed understood them all and had managed to make them all come true. Their relationship had stood the test of time and as gray touched at temples they were still only falling in love more and more each day. Every once in a while he thinks about that fateful night when he bumped into Ed at the bar and he laughs.
Fate worked in mysterious ways and he was glad for that. It had brought him Ed and that alone made anything Jean had ever gone through worthwhile.
The other blond looked in his direction and even with the distance he could tell Ed was smiling. Jean returned that smile and began walking toward him.
He had a dream to continue living.
