Summary/Other Info: Roy decides he's going to upstage Ling and he knows just how to do it.
It was bad enough Riza made Roy stay late to do paperwork. Did he have to run into that bothersome so called prince shopping in the local market with his Ed too? He watched with growing irritation as the prince wrapped his arm around Ed’s shoulder before he pointed at something in a shop window. He cursed under his breath as the two disappeared inside.
Roy was about to turn and head for home when a thought hit him. Smirking at his own ingenuity Roy slipped inside the shop behind them.
He shadowed the two as they browsed the items in the shop. Ed pointed out several things that caught his eye but Roy noticed the prince didn’t seem inclined to purchase any of the items. Seeing this as an opportunity to upstage the annoying young man Roy discreetly picked up those items once they moved away and put them in his basket. He waited until the two left the shop, paid for the items and headed home.
Feeling smug he invited Ed out to dinner the following night so he could present him with the gifts knowing Ling would be tagging along. When the two men showed up at the restaurant just as Roy planned, he wasted no time presenting Ed with the bag of trinkets. His smile grew wider and wider as Ed’s eyes grew larger with each item he pulled out.
“Wow I don’t know what to say.”
“Me either Ray, I am touched.”
“That’s Roy,” the older alchemist mumbled wondering why the prince would care.
“And here I’d gotten the impression you didn’t like me then you turn around and buy me all of these wonderful things that remind me of my country on top of buying me dinner. I have truly misjudged you, Ray.”
Roy didn’t bother correcting him that time he was too busy trying to process what he’d just heard. So when they were shopping yesterday they were not shopping for Ed they were...
“Yeah that was really nice of you, Mustang. Since Ling is going to be here a while I suggested that he get some things that would make him feel less homesick. You did a great job picking stuff out. I guess you two are more alike than I thought.”
Roy couldn’t speak, he was too busy thinking of the dent he’d put in his budget for not only the items but for the dinner the two across from him were ordering in mass quantities.
