Roy and Ed thought they’d seen and heard damn near everything.
They were wrong.
Nothing from the frontlines of war to the edge of Truth could have prepared them for this.
What was this exactly, you ask.
It was Russell talking to Fletcher.
Russell talking to Fletcher about the nature of their relationship and answering questions, to be precise. Ed was listening to him in awe as Roy sat there shaking his head.
“So how did all of this start?”
“It started as the three of us hanging out as friends, turned into us being inseparable before finally resulting in the relationship you see now.”
“Isn’t that hard to manage?”
“It’s not as difficult as most people think. Not much different than having two siblings versus one.”
Fletcher’s brows furrowed at that before his face relaxed. Apparently that answer was sufficient in the young man’s world but he was far from done.
“Doesn’t the extra person in bed feel odd?"
“To us it doesn’t feel like an extra person. Just the opposite actually, it feels odd if one of us is gone.”
“You don’t think that many limbs and lips at one time makes sex difficult?”
“It can be depending on what you’re trying to do, especially if you’re being acrobatic about it, but generally instinct’s take over just as they do when it’s one on one. You manage to make what you have in mind work.”
How could he keep such a calm, cool and collected composure? Just overhearing it was making Ed uncomfortable and Roy… well Roy was feeling thankful about having no siblings. Maes was as close as he got to that and he’d be damned if he’d ever go through this with Maes. The man would just have to live with not knowing.
“What about jealousy? Do you guys ever have a problem with that?”
“Yes, but not in the sense you’d think.”
“What do you mean?” Fletcher asked as he sat in the armchair across from his older brother.
“Well there was that time Ed had to be fitted for new automail and watching Winry touch him so intimately and easily with him seeming so fine with it was hard for me and Roy but we lived.”
Ed looked over at Roy as Roy made it a point not to look at Ed.
“Neither of you ever mentioned that to me before. Why not?” Ed asked in a hushed voice.
“Because we knew we were being ridiculous, immature and a whole host of other not so great things. It was far from our most shining moment,” Roy whispered in response.
Ed gave Roy an odd look but didn’t reply.
“So if the three of you are so committed why aren’t you married?”
“I don’t think the current marriage laws cover a relationship like ours. Besides, it’s the state of mind not the paperwork that makes a relationship a commitment.”
“I can see that but I thought since you own a house together you’d at least be wearing rings.”
“Ed thought of something better than that,” Russell said as he pulled the amulet he always wore out of his shirt.
Fletcher stood up and crossed the room to inspect the item. Bright blue eyes shifted from inquisitive to approving. “I’ve never seen anything like that. It’s gorgeous.”
“Leave it to Ed to wander into the unusual.”
Fletcher fell silent for so long Ed and Roy thought it was over. They were about to breathe a sigh of relief when Fletcher asked, “So is the anal sex thing just what you do because that’s your only option or is it as enjoyable as some say it is?”
Dead, that’s what Ed and Roy were going to be. They couldn’t flee because they were trapped. There was no way to leave the den that wouldn’t disturb the brother’s and sitting there listening to this conversation was killing them slowly.
“Trust me Fletch, it wouldn’t be an option if it wasn’t enjoyable, but anal sex is just like everything else in life. What works for some doesn’t work for others.”
“It works for you?”
“It works for all three of us.”
“Both ways?”
“All the way around.”
“Well who’s better at it?”
“What heals better dandelion or lavender?” Russell asked, answering a question with a question.
“That’s not fair, those help with totally different things.”
“Exactly my point, not better or worse just different.”
Fletcher thought on this a while before saying, “So this isn’t some crazy hormone driven sex fling.”
“It probably is crazy, hormones are involved, the sex is great but a fling it’s not. We love each other.”
“So it’s just the three of you doing your own kinda love thing.”
“Yup.”
Something either in Russell’s tone or expression must have given something away because Fletcher asked, “Has there ever been more than just the three of you!?”
At that point Russell gave an exasperated sigh and replied with, “You’re going to be here for a week Fletch. Don’t you think we’ve had enough question and answer for day two?”
Fletcher made a discontent sound before voicing a reluctant, “I suppose so.”
“Why don’t you go clean up dinner okay?”
“Okay, I will. Is Al coming over?”
“Not tonight but he will be here tomorrow.”
Fletcher made a happy noise before heading upstairs.
When Ed and Roy braved leaving the den Russell was sitting on the couch looking surprisingly well for someone that had just had a horribly frank discussion about non-traditional relationships and three way sex with their little brother.
Ed was the first to speak, “How in the hell did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Talk to him like that.”
“Always have, but I think that was even pushing my limits.”
“You’re still a hero in our book,” Roy said as he handed Russell the double scotch on the rocks he’d brought out with him.
“I hope that still holds true come tomorrow.”
“What’s up tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow there will be two of them.”

The series gives you the impression it was just the two of them for some time and with their age gap being more like 4 years Russell would have had to have THAT talk with his brother so anything after that is just more of the same, right?

You are a large part of the reason this pairing exists and has grown into what they are. If not for you and Angel's love of them I don't think I'd have ever continued to write/post this trio. It certainly wouldn't have become a Verse so yeah you rock babe and thank you so much for the praise *hugs you more*
*glomps you hard for being a fantastic friend and a wonder fan* ^_^

That was awesome :D
I love it <33333
You portray their relationship so well :)

Glad you liked it my dear... I do believe it was you (some point quite a bit ago) that mentioned Ed wasn't the only one with a little brother... here it is!
*blushes at the praise*

That conversation might have killed me as well. Russ is a gem among gems as far as that goes.
I don't think Fletcher is letting it go... I think he's getting reinforcements! ^_^ *heh heh heh*

And yeah Al would be quite a bit more worldly about such things I believe considering all the traveling they've done and the various people they have met.

My thoughts exactly. Situations like this would be the undoing of the best of us.
And you are very correct my dear Al + Fletcher is Ed's doom in the making. ^_^
