They sat like that in the park until well after sunset.
Not saying anything, just watching the moon’s reflection in the water. When Ed finally dared to break the silence he asked Kain what was on his mind.
His response of, “Everything and nothing,” wasn’t questioned by Ed. He had the same uncanny mix going on in his mind so he could understand. However there was one thing that kept springing to mind as they sat there and as much as Ed didn’t want to ruin the moment he couldn’t let the idea go.
He let the silence prevail for a little while longer and just when he was about to lose his nerve he squeezed the hand in his and Kain looked at him in question. A question Ed answered by closing the distance between them and kissing him in a way he’d only daydreamed about.
When they parted he could Kain’s face was a little flushed even in the pale light of the moon. When a smile graced his lips Ed thought he’d never seen anything more beautiful.
